July 16 Woolies Buy Back Program Hello everyone! I was just chatting with a potential new customer and I had just told her about our Buy Back Program. For those who don't know - for those new to wool and are anxious about trying it, I offer a 30% cash back within 60 days of usage! So basically that means that you can purchase a soaker, shorties or longies (custom or ready made), and as long as you send them back to me within 2 months, I will refund you 30% of the purchase price - do for instance, if you buy a pair of shorties and some longies and the total is $100.00, your cash back from my Buy Back Program is $30.00, no matter the condition (as long as it has not been chewed by the dog etc LOL!) I will even pay for the shipping back to me! Have a wonderful evening! Tara July 12 A wonderful quote....about parents and children... I was on one of my favorite forums and this saying was in another mama's signature - "Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. You may give them your love but not your thoughts, For they have their own thoughts. You may strive to be like them but seek not to make them like you." -- Kahlil Gibran I really love this and thought I would share! Tara July 09 Visit us at the Kent Farmer's Market July 19thHello everyone! Back by popular demand, this summer we intend to attend the Kent Farmer's Market every Saturday - the next Saturday the market is open is July 19th. What will I see?
Where is the Market? The Kent Farmer's Market is at the "Town Square Plaza" at the major intersections of 2nd Ave & Smith St in downtown Kent, WA (next to the Kent Library and between the Kent Station and Historic Downtown Kent) Parking My suggestion is to park off of Harrison in the parking lot next to the market or in the Kent Station's parking lot at the corner of Smith and 2nd. The Farmer's Market is an open air farmers market from 9 am until 2 pm each Saturday! Hope to see you then! Tara All ABout Cloth Diapering! All about Cloth Diapering
By Tara of One Bum at a Time! (This is one of our first customers - she loves her handknit wool cover :)
Support Provided by an Experienced Cloth Diapering Mom (and Dad!) When you are first considering cloth diapers, you may do so for many reasons, including health, comfort, environmental etc but you may not have the support of your family and friends as Cloth Diapering is often misunderstood by the general population. Your Mom or Grandmother may remember boiling diapers on the stove and using plastic pants, or your best friend may think it is gross to wash your own diapers at home. Please don’t let that scare you! Coming from a person who HATES baby poop and is quite lazy (it is true!) Cloth Diapering is almost as easy as throwing on a disposable (or ‘sposie I like to call them!). Please ask me about caring for, washing (ask me for a free Country Save detergent sampleJ), disinfecting and wearing Cloth Diapers – I can work with you in person, over the phone or over email and help you come up with a solution that works for you. Working full-time? A student? Have a husband that won’t change diapers? We have all been there and we understand. Some parents only use cloth at home or during the day and some use them 24/7 – whatever works for you! One Bum at a Time! is the idea of my husband Bill and I (from Canada and now living in beautiful WA!). We have a 2 year old son in diapers and we are also string believers in natural parenting, including breastfeeding and babywearing. After using every imaginable Cloth Diaper “system” out there (from plastic covers to diaper services etc! and spending endless hours doing research (and spending lots of money), we discovered some wonderful things: Reasons why many parents choose to cloth diaper their baby with One Bum at a Time diapers: · Health and Comfort · Cost Savings · Environmental Reasons · Potty Training is Easier · Style A Healthy Choice is what cloth diapering is all about. Why expose baby to chemicals that can irritate baby’s bum and cause rashes due to lack of air flow and trapped moisture? Give baby a better chance of avoiding diaper and heat rashes, yeast infections and general irritation. Wonderful comfort (baby spent 9 months in the perfectly warm and safe environment of our womb and is thrust into a foreign world wearing a plastic and paper diaper – why not give baby the comfort they deserve!) I always ask parents “Do you want to wear a plastic diaper?” and always get laughs since the answer is no! Cost Savings – research has proven that from birth to age 2.5 (until out of diapers), the average family spends $2500.00 to $3000.00 dollars in disposable diapers! One Bum at a Time! has diaper packages ranging from $300 on up, so that is a potential savings of $2700.00!! (If youo use our cloth wipes instead of diaposable wipes, you could save up to $800 as well!) Environmental Reasons were a big one for us – knowing that Cloth Diapers are one of the Top 3 solid waste items in the world’s landfills make us cringe. And we all know that it takes 500 – 1000 years for a disposable diaper to break down in a landfill! In addition, by law we are not supposed to be dumping human waste into our garbage, and unfortunately due to the massive numbers of diapers in the landfill, this waste contaminates the landfill and can leach into groundwater – yum! There are many studies online (just give me your email if you want me to send them to you) about the environmental nightmare disposable diapers cause, and if for no other reason, Cloth Diapers are the best way to start making a change and ensuring a healthier world for our babies. Potty Training is Easier when using cloth simply because baby knows when he is wet or poopy and will let you know! This leads to a natural awareness that baby has regarding his body and for this reason, it has been shown that Cloth Diapered babies potty train on average 6 months earlier than babies in disposables! Style is a big one too! How cute is it when baby wears that handmade custom diaper cover knit from beautiful, soft and colorful yarn and of course is sporting a matching T shirt? If wool is not for you, regular diaper covers can also be eye catching and colorful as well! Cloth Diapering parents love that they can just put a diaper on their baby (even without a cover) and they don’t look like they are wearing “diapers” if you know what I mean! And with wool covers, they also double as clothing (shorts, pants or little skirts) and these are a super fun conversation starter when meeting new people! I can tell you that every time we take our son Ash outside, everyone always asks about his cute little pants or shorts and ask me where they can get them (of course this is the reason we started One Bum at a Time! as we figured since we know about and love Cloth Diapering as much as we do, we might as well sell them J)
Well that’s it! Please feel free to email me at tara@onebumatatime.com or visit our website (still under construction however), or call me at 253-277-3038. We live in Kent and are willing to come to you, your pregnancy, birthing or moms groups, to show you the diapers in person and to ask questions!
